Conducere sonitum infinitas

The painting ‘Conducting into Infinity’ is a reminder and a reference to the glorious tradition of commissioning musical forms for religious celebrations. Guillaume Dufay composed a motet, Nuper rosarum flores, for the consecration of the Florence Cathedral. Allegedly the structure of the composition complimented and harmonized with the proportions of the Duomo by Filippo Brunelleschi.

The figure in her painting represents simultaneously the composer and the conductor who are our contemporaries. He is conducting into the cosmic space of the cupola, whose circular silhouette is derived from a shape of a circle, symbolizing eternity, the universe and the Creator.
